Ghaziabad, 22 Aug (HS): Indirapuram police has arrested a
notorious robber who used to deprive passersby’s of their mobile phones and
chains in Ghaziabad, Hapur and Delhi. The robber was injured by a police
bullet. 1 illegal pistol, 1 empty cartridge, 1 live cartridge and 1 stolen
motorcycle were recovered from his possession. During checking on the bridge of
Hindon Canal 5/6 during wee hours, Indirapuram police station tried to stop a
person riding a motorcycle coming from the direction of Kanawani bridge. Seeing
himself surrounded by the police, the person riding the motorcycle turned his
motorcycle back and started running towards the Kanawani bridge with the
intention of escaping. When the police party chased him, the person riding the
motorcycle took out a pistol and fired directly at the police. The police fired
in retaliation. Due to which the criminal got shot in the leg and injured. The
police caught the injured criminal, who revealed his name as Mohammad Aamir
Qureshi resident behind Islamia Madrasa, Police Station Loni.
On interrogation, it came to light that the accused used to rob
mobile phones and chains from passersby in Ghaziabad, Hapur, Delhi and earn
money by selling them at cheap rates in Delhi. The recovered motorcycle was
stolen from Indirapuram itself. Today he had come to Ghaziabad with the
intention of chain snatching.
