New Delhi, August 22 (HS) : Security personnel thwarted yet another intrusion attempt at the Parliament complex in the early hours of Friday. Around 5:50 a.m., guards apprehended a young man allegedly trying to climb the boundary wall of the high-security premises.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Devesh Kumar Mahla confirmed that the intruder has been identified as 20-year-old Ram. “The man appeared mentally unstable and was unable to even disclose his name properly,” the DCP said.

Senior officers noted that a probe is underway to ascertain how the accused managed to scale the Parliament wall. Police teams are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity to piece together the sequence of events.

This incident comes barely two years after the December 13, 2023 breach, when a group of youths managed to storm into Parliament during its proceedings — a major lapse that led to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) taking charge of Parliament’s security, replacing the Delhi Police.
