Chennai, 22 August (H.S.) : Actor-turned-politician Vijay, leader of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), has come under fire from the DMK, AIADMK, and BJP following his recent rally in Madurai. Vijay had launched a scathing attack on both the DMK and BJP, accusing them of maintaining a covert alliance while pretending to be adversaries in public.
DMK minister S Regupathy has accused Vijay's party, TVK, of being the BJP's C team. Regupathy claimed that Vijay's policies and ideologies closely align with the DMK's, but his party's actions might inadvertently benefit the BJP. He also questioned Vijay's intentions, suggesting that the actor-turned-politician might be trying to woo the DMK's allies.

BJP leaders in Tamil Nadu have expressed a different view, stating that Vijay's entry into politics poses a threat only to the ruling DMK. Amar Prasad Reddy, a state BJP leader, believes that Vijay's party could potentially draw support away from the DMK. However, former governor of Telangana and Puducherry, Tamilisai Soundararajan, who is also a BJP leader, welcomed Vijay's criticism of the DMK's corruption and dynastic politics.
The AIADMK has taken a nuanced position, with former minister RB Udhayakumar stating that Vijay's party doesn't pose a significant threat to the opposition party since they are not in power. However, Udhayakumar did acknowledge that the AIADMK's enemies and policies seem to align with TVK's.
Vijay has been vocal about his accusations against the DMK and BJP, claiming that they are secret allies who stage a drama for electoral gain. He has also criticized the BJP for its divisive politics and the DMK for fostering a corrupt political culture in Tamil Nadu. Vijay is positioning his party, TVK, as a genuine alternative, vowing to contest the 2026 elections as the sole challenger to the anti-people, anti-democratic forces.
The backlash against Vijay highlights the complex and dynamic nature of Tamil Nadu's politics, with each party trying to outmaneuver the others in the run-up to the 2026 Assembly elections.
