Jorhat (Assam), 21 August (HS): Tiyok police have arrested three thieves involved in a gold theft case that took place on July 18. The trio was nabbed during an operation at Bishwanath Chariali.

According to police, the incident occurred when jewelry dealer Prashant Bhuiyan parked his motorcycle near Kakjan Kamar Khatuwal after closing his shop. Gold ornaments worth around ₹15 lakh, kept in the trunk of his motorcycle, were stolen within 15–20 minutes.

Following Bhuiyan’s complaint, a case was registered and an investigation was launched. The arrested accused have been identified as Chandu Das, Ravi Das and Dezhing Das — all originally from Odisha.

During interrogation, the three confessed to the crime. Police said further investigation is underway.
