Prayagraj, 21 Aug (HS): A mother and daughter died mysteriously

on Thursday in Gopalpur alias Lalu Deeh village of Nawabganj police station

area in Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh. The police, which became active on

the information, have started investigation. Police said that the family

members told that they had consumed some poisonous substance. Still,

post-mortem is being conducted to know the exact cause of death.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ganganagar Kuldeep Singh Gunawat

said that on Wednesday night, Nirmala, 64 years, wife of late Gulzar alias

Ramesh Chandra and her 40 years old daughter Vitau, wife of Bablu, resident of

Gopalpur alias Lalu Deeh village of Nawabganj police station area, suddenly

fell ill, so the family members immediately took them to Swarooprani Nehru

Hospital and admitted them, where the doctors declared Nirmala Devi dead and

started the treatment of her daughter Litau. Litau also died during treatment

on Thursday morning. The doctors sent the body for post-mortem.

The deceased's son Munsi said that my sister's mental condition

was not good for the last several years. She was staying at my house since a

few days after her marriage. On Wednesday, all the family members were busy

with their work. Mother and sister were alone at home. When we reached home

late on Wednesday evening, we found both of them unconscious. Seeing this, we

rushed them to the hospital for treatment. After reaching the hospital, the

doctors declared the mother dead. The sister was being treated. The deceased's

son said that she had eaten some poisonous substance kept at home. But he could

not tell the reason for suicide. The police team has taken the body in its

custody and will conduct a post-mortem to know the exact cause of death. If any

complaint is received in this regard, further legal action will be taken.
