London, Aug 21(HS): A blistering half-century from Phoebe Litchfield and a brilliant all-round performance by Annabel Sutherland (3/20 & unbeaten 29) propelled Northern Superchargers to a commanding eight-wicket victory over London Spirit in The Hundred Women’s clash at Lord’s on Wednesday night. The win marked Superchargers’ fourth triumph of the season, lifting them to second place in the points table.

Batting first, London Spirit endured a shaky start as Kate Cross and Grace Ballinger struck early blows. Despite a fighting 21 from Georgia Redmayne, wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals. Sutherland and Nicola Carey combined for five dismissals, while Ballinger chipped in with two more.

A brief resistance came through Issy Wong (24) and Charlie Dean, who strung together a 33-run stand. However, their cautious approach meant Spirit could only limp to 90/8 in their 100-ball quota.

Chasing a modest target, Superchargers stumbled early with Rebecca Tyson dismissing both openers cheaply. But from there, Litchfield and Sutherland ensured no further hiccups. Litchfield found her rhythm by smashing Wong for three consecutive boundaries in one over before accelerating with ease. Sutherland, meanwhile, anchored the chase with calculated strokeplay and a sparkling six off Wong.

In the end, Litchfield (unbeaten 55) sealed the game emphatically with a boundary on the 66th ball, guiding Superchargers to 93/2 with 34 balls to spare.

Score Summary:

London Spirit – 90/8 (100 balls): Redmayne 21, Wong 24; Sutherland 3/20, Ballinger 2/12

Northern Superchargers – 93/2 (66 balls): Litchfield 55, Sutherland 29*; Tyson 2/6*

Result: Northern Superchargers won by 8 wickets.
