Hooghly, 21 August (H.S.): The BJP took out a big procession from Bhadreshwar station to Bhadreswar police station in Hooghly district on Wednesday afternoon. Allegedly, Trinamool leaders attacked the shop and house of local businessman Suparna Pal for sharing a post against the Municipal Chairman on social media. The shop was vandalized and the woman businessman was also beaten. She had to be admitted to Chandannagar Hospital in an injured condition.

Local people alleged that the councillor of ward number 20 and many Trinamool leaders were directly involved in the attack and the entire incident took place in the presence of the Municipal Chairman. However, even after filing a complaint in the police station, the police did not take any action. In protest against this, BJP took out a procession in Bhadreshwar station area on Wednesday afternoon.

Victim Suparna Pal herself also participated in this march led by Mandal President Anjan Raut. As soon as the procession reached in front of Bhadreshwar police station, the police tried to stop it. There was a scuffle between the police and BJP workers. When the situation worsened, BJP workers sat on a dharna in front of the police station. Later, a delegation of BJP leaders went to the police station and submitted a deputation to the IC. It demanded immediate arrest of the culprits and strict punishment. During this, Hooghly District BJP General Secretary Suresh Sao, District Vice President Gopal Upadhyay and other local leaders were also present.
