Chennai, 21 August (H.S.) : A disturbing incident has come to light in Chennai's Virugambakkam area, where a private school principal has been accused of physically abusing an 8-year-old student of Class 4. The incident occurred when the young boy got into a fight with a classmate, prompting the principal to call both students to her room and allegedly beat them with a cane. The boy suffered injuries, including a swollen leg, and was treated at the ESIC hospital in KK Nagar before being discharged.
The boy's father lodged a complaint with the KK Nagar police, seeking action against the principal. Based on the complaint, the police have launched an investigation into the matter. The incident has raised concerns about the school's disciplinary methods and the safety of students.
The police are currently investigating the allegations made against the principal. The school's management has not yet issued a public statement regarding the incident. The case highlights the need for schools to adopt more humane and constructive disciplinary approaches that prioritize student well-being and safety.
This is not an isolated incident, as there have been other cases of school principals and teachers being accused of physically abusing students. For instance, a vice-principal of Don Bosco school in Tumakuru was sacked for allegedly beating students over trivial matters. Such incidents emphasize the importance of ensuring that schools provide a safe and nurturing environment for all students.
