India-Bhutan border (Assam), 21 August (HS): The 24th Battalion of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) arrested a man with wildlife bones during a joint operation with the forest department at Guabari border post along the India-Bhutan border. The operation was led by Commandant HK Gupta of the 24th Battalion.
The arrested individual, identified as Som Hasda, was found carrying elephant molar teeth, suspicious animal teeth, wild boar hair, a suspected owl skull, and other animal bones. Following the seizure, he was handed over to the forest department at Kumarikata for further legal action.
The joint operation included SSB officers Assistant Commandant Syed Afsar, Inspector Gaisi, ASI Lohit Khetri, Head Constable Banmali, Constables Girish Saikia and Anamika Shah, along with forest officials Baram Deka (PP), Ananta Narzari (PP), and Lachit Borgohain (G/W), among others.
