New Delhi, August 21(HS): On the concluding day of the Monsoon Session, the Parliament is set to convene a special discussion underscoring the pivotal role of India’s space programme in shaping a developed India by 2047. This deliberation gains added significance as it will honour Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, India’s first astronaut visit to ISS who recently completed a successful mission aboard the International Space Station (ISS).

The agenda, as per the official list of business, highlights the “critical role of space programme for Viksit Bharat by 2047,” reflecting the government’s emphasis on advancing space technology as an integral component of national development and progress.

In an accompanying parliamentary procedure, several Union ministers, including Pankaj Chaudhary, Nityanand Rai, Kirti Vardhan Singh, Shantanu Thakur, Ajay Tamta, Sukanta Majumdar, and Murlidhar Mohol, are slated to lay papers on the table. This ceremonial act formalizes the placement of official government documents for public record, enabling members of Parliament to scrutinize, question, and debate their contents.

In a concurrent political development, B Sudershan Reddy, the Vice-President candidate for the India bloc, is scheduled to file his nomination today. The India bloc, an anti-BJP coalition, has positioned Reddy in a contest against the National Democratic Alliance’s candidate, CP Radhakrishnan, intensifying the competitive atmosphere ahead of the Vice-Presidential election.
