New Delhi, August 21 (HS): The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on Thursday reiterated that no toll fee is levied on two-wheelers across national highways and expressways in the country.
This clarification comes in the wake of misleading claims circulating on social media suggesting that motorcycles and scooters may be charged at toll plazas.
According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, toll collection on national highways is strictly governed by the National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008. These rules specify that toll charges are only applicable to vehicles with four or more wheels, including categories such as cars, jeeps, vans, and other light motor vehicles.
The ministry further emphasized that there is no proposal under consideration to impose toll on two-wheelers.
