Kolkata, 21 August (H.S.) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday expressed his delight at visiting Kolkata once again, reaffirming his government’s commitment to the city’s development. In a post on social media platform X, the Prime Minister said that his engagements in Kolkata on Wednesday will largely focus on improving connectivity.
The metro services to be inaugurated include the Noapara–Jai Hind Bimanbandar, Sealdah–Esplanade, and Beleghata–Hemanta Mukhopadhyay routes. Officials said these new stretches will significantly enhance travel convenience, particularly by strengthening links to and from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport as well as the IT hub areas.
“The development of Kolkata remains a key priority, and these metro services will boost both connectivity and economic opportunities,” PM Modi said.
