Golaghat (Assam), 21 August (HS): A shocking murder case has been reported from Budhagaon in the Dergaon area of Golaghat district, where a man allegedly killed his wife with a sharp weapon.

According to police, the accused, identified as Rinku Phukan, attacked his wife Devika Phukan with a dao (sharp knife) on Wednesday night, leading to her death on the spot. After committing the crime, Rinku himself surrendered at the local police station.

Police reached the scene soon after receiving information, recovered the body, and sent it for postmortem. The accused has been arrested and an FIR has been registered.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the murder was the result of a family feud. Police interrogation of the accused is underway.
