Ghaziabad, 21 Aug (HS): A member of

the Chadar Gang who had uprooted the shutter of a watch showroom in Ghaziabad,

Uttar Pradesh and stolen watches worth crores of rupees was injured in a police

encounter. A reward of Rs 20,000 was announced for his arrest. On 10 November

2024, the Chadar Gang had uprooted the shutter and stolen watches worth crores

of rupees from showroom named Sai Creation in Indirapuram. So far, several

accused in this case have been arrested.

ACP Abhishek Srivastava said that

SWAT team, crime branch and Indirapuram police station were jointly checking at

Kanavani Bridge. Just then a person riding a motorcycle, who was coming from

Hindon Barrage, on seeing the police checking, turned the motorcycle backwards

and started running on the canal track. On suspicion, the police chased him and

surrounded him in the bushy field behind Vasundhara T-point. Seeing himself surrounded

criminal opened fire directly on the police. The police also fired in

self-defense, in which the youth got injured by a bullet in his leg. The

injured youth revealed his name as Santosh Jaiswal alias Asami, resident of

village Inarbari, police station Kopwa, district Rautahat, Madhesh Pradesh,

Nepal. 01 pistol of 315 bore, 01 empty cartridge, 01 live cartridge of 315

bore, 01 Tissot watch worth about Rs. 43 thousand stolen from Sai Creation

showroom and Passion Pro motorcycle stolen from Indirapuram police station were

recovered from his possession.

He, along with his accomplices, had

committed the crime of stealing watches of various international brands by

putting a sheet in front of the watch showroom in the Indirapuram police

station area in August, 2024 and breaking the shutter of the showroom. He had

fled to Nepal after committing the theft.
