New Delhi, August 21(HS): The central government has upgraded the security cover for Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta to Z-category protection, following the recent attack on her. The new security arrangement, confirmed by official sources, will see personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) joining Delhi Police in safeguarding the Chief Minister.

Amid the developments, all seven Delhi BJP MPs—Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Bansuri Swaraj, Harsh Malhotra, Manoj Tiwari, Praveen Khandelwal, Kamaljeet Sehrawat, and Yogendra Chandelia—visited CM Gupta at her official residence to enquire about her well-being. The meeting was shared publicly by MP Bidhuri in a post on X.

The MPs hailed Rekha Gupta’s “unwavering determination and visionary development agenda,” noting that while her dynamic leadership over the past six months has earned her the reputation of a “Goddess of Development” among the people, it has also unsettled some sections opposed to her hands-on approach to governance.

Expressing solidarity, the BJP parliamentarians wished her a speedy recovery and return to the public sphere. In her remarks, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta asserted that such cowardly attacks could never shake her resolve or diminish her passion for Delhi’s development.

Meanwhile, Rajesh Bhai Khimji Bhai Sakariya, accused of carrying out the attack, was remanded to five days of police custody by Tis Hazari Court late on Wednesday.
