Guwahati, 21 August (HS): Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma paid rich tributes to renowned Assamese poet Ganesh Gogoi, popularly known as the Poet of Papori, on his death anniversary on Thursday.

Remembering the legendary poet, the CM said, “Ganesh Gogoi’s contribution to enriching Assamese literature is unforgettable. He played a pivotal role in shaping and promoting the stream of romantic poetry in Assamese literature. On his death anniversary, I pay my heartfelt tribute to him.”

Ganesh Gogoi is widely regarded as the pioneer of romantic poetry in Assamese literature. His works gave a new dimension and recognition to Assamese poetry, making him one of the most celebrated figures in the state’s literary world.
