Baksa (Assam), 21 August (HS): The Alternative Party of Bodoland (APB), led by Anjali Daimari, has announced its decision to contest the upcoming Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections. The party will field its candidates in council areas 14 to 20.
The announcement was made during a press conference organized by the Salbari district APB committee at Aohat, Salbari. The party also revealed that the official list of candidates will be announced soon in Salbari council area of Baksa district.
Addressing the media, Salbari District APB president Anil Brahma criticized both BPF leader Hagrama Mohilary and UPPL leader Promod Bodo for failing to bring peace and development to the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) during their tenure. He alleged that despite years of leadership, peace has not been restored and former rebels continue to suffer.
Brahma also alleged that fear of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has silenced voices in the region. He further said that leaders make tall promises during public meetings but fail to deliver, terming their efforts as mere political theatrics.
The newly formed APB party is currently finalizing its candidate list, which the central leadership will announce shortly.---------------
