New Delhi, August 20 (HS): A tragic accident struck central Delhi’s Daryaganj area on Wednesday afternoon when a two-storey building adjacent to Sadbhavana Park and the city wall suddenly collapsed.
At least three laborers working at the site were killed instantly in the incident. The deceased have been identified as Zubair, Gulsagar, and Taufiq.
Rescue Operations in Full Swing
The collapse occurred around 12:14 pm, according to Delhi Police and Fire Department officials. Within minutes, police teams and three fire tenders rushed to the spot, along with local residents who joined in the rescue effort.
The victims were pulled out from the debris and taken to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital, where doctors declared all three dead on arrival.
Agencies Informed, Probe Ordered
Authorities from the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), along with local civic bodies, were immediately informed. Police said that while rescue operations are still underway, the possibility of more individuals being trapped under the debris cannot be ruled out.
A fact-finding probe has been ordered, and legal action will be initiated once the investigation determines the cause of the collapse.
