Kamrup (Assam), 20 August (HS): Police in Rangia rescued a girl from Narayanpur, Hojai of Lakhimpur district, who had allegedly fallen victim to a case of love jihad. The accused has been arrested.
The arrested individual has been identified as Nabidul Islam, a resident of Dubiri in Rangia Sam area. According to reports, the girl, a second-year college student from Narayanpur Hawajan, had suddenly gone missing last Monday.
Police said that Nabidul Islam allegedly lured the girl and fled with her. Following a complaint lodged by the girl’s family at the Dhulpur police station, an electronic investigation was launched. Based on the inputs, Rangia police located the girl and the accused, and both were taken into custody.
Subsequently, Dhulpur police arrived in Rangia and brought them back to Dhulpur. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
