New Delhi, August 20(HS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday paid homage to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on the occasion of his birth anniversary. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister wrote: “On his birth anniversary today, my tributes to former Prime Minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi Ji.”
Rajiv Gandhi, born on August 20, 1944, became India’s youngest Prime Minister at the age of 40 following the tragic assassination of his mother, then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, in 1984. He led the nation from 1984 to 1989, steering India into a period of modernization and early technological advancement. His tenure is remembered for spearheading India’s entry into the IT and telecom revolution, as well as for key initiatives in education and administrative reforms.
