London, August 20 (HS): Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah has etched his name into English football history by becoming the first-ever player to win the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Men’s Player of the Year award three times.
Having previously claimed the prestigious honor in 2018 and 2022, Salah secured the accolade once again after a phenomenal 2024-25 season that saw him rise head and shoulders above some of the Premier League’s finest. He topped a shortlist that featured his teammate Alexis Mac Allister, Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes, Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, and Arsenal’s Declan Rice.
Salah’s Record-Breaking Season
At 33, Salah continues to redefine consistency and brilliance in English football. He spearheaded Liverpool’s triumphant Premier League title campaign last season, scoring 29 goals and providing 18 assists, finishing as the league’s top scorer and most influential attacking force.
This latest award adds to his glittering collection for the season, having already been named both the Premier League Player of the Season and the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year.
Other Award Winners
It was also a memorable night for other talents:
Young Player of the Year: Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers, who enjoyed a breakthrough season.
PFA Merit Award 2025: Former England manager Gareth Southgate, honored for his services to football.
Salah’s achievement cements his legacy as one of the Premier League’s greatest ever players, combining personal milestones with team success in a manner few have matched.
