Nagon (Assam), 20 August (HS): The Anti-Corruption Branch arrested education officer Mehboob Ahmed Laskar from his office in Nagon for demanding and accepting a bribe.

According to sources, Laskar had deliberately delayed the pension process of a retired teacher, Rudra Mohan Chakraborty and demanded ₹6,000 to clear the file. While accepting ₹5,000 as bribe, he was caught red-handed by the Anti-Corruption Branch officials.

The officer has been taken into custody and further investigation is underway.
