Nagpur, 20 Aug (HS): The
cut-off marks for admission to MBBS courses across the state have dropped
notably this year. According to the first merit list released for government
colleges, the open category cut-off has fallen to 509 marks. Last year,
admission to government medical colleges in the open category required 642
marks, while private medical colleges had a cut-off of 479 marks. This time,
the cut-off has gone down considerably, benefiting many students.
In total, admission
procedures are currently underway for 8,138 seats in medical courses. Alongside
MBBS, the reduced cut-offs will also benefit admissions in Dental, Ayurveda,
and Homeopathy streams. Experts suggest that the lowering of the cut-off is due
to the NEET exam becoming relatively easier this year and the high number of
candidates appearing.
