Agartala, 20 August (HS): Alert Border Security Force (BSF) personnel thwarted a major smuggling attempt along the Indo-Bangladesh border and seized a large quantity of cattle and contraband items.
According to a BSF spokesperson, the seized items include cattle, cosmetics, Phensedyl bottles, clothing and mobile phones worth around ₹35,03,766. These goods were being smuggled into Bangladesh under the cover of darkness.
BSF officials said the smugglers tried to cross the border taking advantage of the night, but vigilant patrolling foiled their plans. The seized goods have been handed over to the concerned authorities for further legal action.
Reiterating its commitment, the BSF stated that curbing cross-border smuggling remains a top priority, with troops maintaining strict round-the-clock vigilance to prevent any illegal activity.
