Mumbai, 20 Aug (HS): The Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv
Sena and Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena’s Utkarsha Panel faced a
humiliating defeat in the BEST Employees Co-operative Credit Society elections
in Mumbai. None of the candidates supported by them could win a seat. The
results of the elections were declared on Wednesday. Bharatiya Janata Party
supported Sahakar Samruddhi Panel bagged seven out of the 21 seats, while
Shashank Rao’s panel won 14 seats.
Shiv Sena (UBT) and MNS contested in 19 and two seats
respectively and lost all. The results are being viewed and analysed as a
potential threat to the Thackeray brothers, as municipal corporation polls are due
soon. Shiv Sena has been ruling in the society for about nine years.
