(HS): Ignoring his party's stand, former minister and Congress leader Dr Nitin

Raut has extended support to the Nagpur-Goa Shaktipeeth Expressway. In a

letter to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Dr Raut has said that for the

development of the Vidarbha region, a golden triangle by developing the Delhi-Nagpur-Hyderabad Corridor, Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Mahamarg and Nagpur-Goa

Shaktipeeth Marg would be helpful.

Dr Raut has

demanded that the Delhi-Nagpur-Hyderabad Corridor should be connected to the Nagpur-Mumbai

Samruddhi Mahamarg and Nagpur-Goa Shaktipeeth Marg.

Congress has

opposed the development of the Nagpur-Goa Expressway way alleging acquisition of fertile

land, particularly in Western Maharashtra, for the highway. This will incur

severe losses to farmers. The party has also alleged that connecting the

highway to the sea port is an attempt to take valuable minerals to benefit Adani.

Dr Raut, however, supported the Shaktipeeth Mahamarg against his party’s stand.
