Delhi, 19 August (H.S.): Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi on Tuesday, marking a key step toward repairing the strained India-China relationship following the violent border clashes of 2020. The high-profile meeting reflects both nations’ desire to move forward and stabilize ties.
Ahead of the summit, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar emphasized the critical need for peace and de-escalation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), urging progress in disengagement and dismantling of military infrastructure, which remains incomplete almost five years after the clashes. Jaishankar emphasized that maintaining tranquility at the border is the foundation for any positive momentum.
