Kolkata, 19 August (H.S.):

A budding model from Kolkata’s Kasba area has lodged a complaint against two individuals from the film industry, accusing them of rape and prolonged sexual exploitation. Police have registered a case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and initiated an investigation.

A senior officer from Kasba Police Station confirmed the development on Tuesday, stating that the survivor alleged she was raped by the two accused in August 2023 and was subsequently harassed on multiple occasions. The complaint also mentions that she was threatened to remain silent about the incident.

According to police sources, the model was pursuing opportunities in films when she came into contact with the accused. The two individuals named in the complaint are S.S. Uddin and Rajshree Dey, both associated with the entertainment industry. However, no arrests have been made so far, and the probe is underway.

It may be recalled that earlier this year, Kasba was in the spotlight after a law college student was allegedly raped, sparking statewide outrage. In that case, accused students Manojit Mishra, Pramit Mukhopadhyay, and Jaib Ahmed were arrested by the police.
