New Delhi, August 17(HS): India’s equity market saw a mixed performance last week, with five of the country’s top 10 most-valued companies adding over ₹60,675 crore in market capitalization, while the remaining five together shed more than ₹39,600 crore.

State Bank of India (SBI) and HDFC Bank emerged as the biggest gainers, while Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) took the steepest hit in valuation.

Weekly Gainers

Between August 11 and August 14, SBI’s market capitalization rose by ₹20,445.82 crore, lifting it to ₹7,63,095.16 crore. HDFC Bank added ₹14,083.51 crore, taking its market value to ₹15,28,387.09 crore.

Technology major Infosys climbed by ₹9,887.17 crore to ₹6,01,310.19 crore, while telecom giant Bharti Airtel surged ₹8,410.6 crore, reaching a valuation of ₹10,68,260.92 crore. Market heavyweight Reliance Industries added ₹7,848.84 crore, extending its lead at the top with a market cap of ₹18,59,023.43 crore.

Weekly Losers

In contrast, LIC saw its valuation erode by ₹15,306.5 crore to ₹5,61,881.17 crore, the sharpest fall among peers. Bajaj Finance slipped ₹9,601.08 crore to ₹5,35,547.44 crore, while ICICI Bank lost ₹6,513.34 crore to end at ₹10,18,982.35 crore.

IT services leader TCS shed ₹4,558.79 crore, closing at ₹10,93,349.87 crore, and Hindustan Unilever declined by ₹3,630.12 crore to ₹5,83,391.76 crore.

Market Cap Rankings

Reliance Industries continued to dominate as India’s most valuable listed company with a market capitalization of ₹18.59 lakh crore. It was followed by HDFC Bank (₹15.28 lakh crore), TCS (₹10.93 lakh crore), Bharti Airtel (₹10.68 lakh crore) and ICICI Bank (₹10.18 lakh crore).

SBI, Infosys, Hindustan Unilever, LIC and Bajaj Finance rounded off the top 10 in that order, with valuations ranging between ₹7.63 lakh crore and ₹5.35 lakh crore.
