(H.S.): In the case of rape and murder of a girl in Bidhuna Kotwali area of

Auraiya district in Uttar Pradesh, the police on Tuesday arrested the cousin.

The accused has admitted to committing the crime in a state of intoxication. SP

Abhijit R Shankar told in a press conference on Tuesday that a girl was raped

and murdered on 10 August. On the complaint of the father, the police had

registered a case against five people of the village and were investigating.

During the investigation, the police arrested Surjeet Saxena, the son of the

girl's uncle who lives in the neighborhood and questioned him.

The accused said that he

had consumed alcohol on 9th August, a day before the incident. At night, he had

a wrong idea and entered the girl's house by jumping over the wall. He did bad

things to the girl sleeping in the room by gagging her. When the girl tried to

scream, he strangled her to death. After committing the crime, the accused went

to his room and slept. The SP said that the cousin has been arrested and sent

to jail in the case of rape and murder of the girl.
