Guwahati, 12 August (HS): Hindu Suraksha Sena, Assam, has called upon the people of the state to celebrate Independence Day on August 15 with complete freedom and enthusiasm, unfazed by any threats from militant groups.
In a press statement, Central Committee President Kanchan Nath and General Secretary Akash Saikia said that ULFA (Independent) has once again called for a boycott of Independence Day and an Assam bandh, but such rhetoric is outdated and meaningless. They accused ULFA(I) leader Paresh Barua of playing with words and slogans in the name of “so-called independence” while causing the deaths of thousands of innocent people.
Terming Barua a servile agent of China and Bangladesh, the leaders said that calling Assam a colony of a foreign country or claiming a freedom struggle is laughable. They asserted that the people of Assam now clearly understand the true nature of Barua and his organisation.
Central Secretary Mithun Das added that the indigenous people of Assam have identified their real enemy and have begun resisting them. The press release also warned ULFA(I) against making statements on Assam-related issues in the future, stating that Paresh Barua and his group have become entirely irrelevant to public life in the state.
