Guwahati, 11 August (HS): An EGPD team from Basistha Police Station in Guwahati has arrested a notorious vehicle thief and recovered a stolen scooter from his possession.

Police on Monday identified the accused as Saharul Islam (27) of Goalpara, who has been involved in several vehicle theft cases. Acting on a tip-off, the EGPD team apprehended him and recovered a grey Activa 5G (AS01 EA 1839) that had been stolen a day earlier from the GMCH premises in Bhangagarh.

According to police, Islam has a long history of theft and multiple criminal cases are registered against him. A case has been lodged at Basistha Police Station, and legal proceedings have been initiated.
