New Delhi, August 11(HS): Union Minister and senior BJP leader Dharmendra Pradhan launched a blistering attack on Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and the opposition INDIA bloc on Monday, accusing them of undermining democratic institutions and the Constitution. His remarks came after the bloc staged a protest march from Parliament to the Election Commission, opposing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Bihar’s voter lists and alleging vote-rigging in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
Pradhan charged that Rahul Gandhi “fabricates a new mountain of lies every single day” and is at the forefront of the “most constitutionally subversive activities” in the country. He alleged that Congress only accepts the electoral process when it wins but cries foul about corruption and manipulation when it loses.
Defending the SIR as a standard, nationwide Election Commission procedure to update and verify voter rolls, Pradhan dismissed the opposition’s objections as baseless. He accused the Congress of running a persistent misinformation campaign — first targeting EVMs, then raising unrelated state issues — to sow distrust in the system after consecutive defeats in 2014, 2019, and 2024, as well as in multiple state polls.
Pradhan claimed recent fact-checks by Indian media have exposed what he called Rahul Gandhi’s “lies” with documented evidence. He further accused the opposition of resorting solely to vote-bank politics, attempting to register “intruders” as voters to secure electoral gains, and ignoring the technical realities of electoral processes.
Framing the protests as politically motivated, Pradhan said the opposition is manufacturing unrest and exploiting sensitive issues to mask its “political bankruptcy” after repeated failures at the ballot box.
