New Delhi, August 11(HS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate 184 newly constructed, multi-storey flats for Members of Parliament at Baba Kharak Singh Marg around 10am today, marking a transformative milestone in the capital’s legislative infrastructure. This modern residential complex, designed to optimize space and foster sustainability, represents the government’s response to a longstanding demand for adequate and functional housing for parliamentarians.

Each apartment spans approximately 5,000 square feet, blending spacious living with integrated office space, staff quarters, and access to a community center—all intended to support MPs in balancing their professional and personal duties seamlessly.

Built using advanced monolithic concrete technology with aluminum formwork, the complex sets new standards in construction efficiency and durability. The entire facility is earthquake-resistant, in line with the latest structural norms, and features robust security measures to ensure resident safety.

Environmental stewardship is a cornerstone of the project. The complex has achieved the prestigious GRIHA 3-star certification and fully adheres to the National Building Code 2016, incorporating energy-saving systems, renewable energy solutions, and effective waste management. Universal accessibility has been prioritized, making the premises Divyang-friendly and inclusive.

During the inauguration, Prime Minister Modi will plant a Sindoor sapling, interact with construction workers, and address an audience comprising MPs and dignitaries. Officials note that this development ushers in a new era of sustainable, dignified living for the nation’s lawmakers—where functionality, environmental consciousness, and safety converge at the very heart of India’s democracy.
