Former Conservator of Forests Amresh Kumar Jaiswal, IFS, Convicted in DA Case


Bhubaneswar, 11 August (H.S.) Amresh Kumar Jaiswal, Indian Forest Service (IFS), Former Conservator of Forests, Office of the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF), Aranya Bhawan, Bhubaneswar (Retired), has been convicted in a disproportionate assets (DA) case by the Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance Court, Cuttack.

Jaiswal was charge-sheeted by the Odisha Vigilance under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. After the trial, the court found him guilty and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for two years. Additionally, a fine of ₹50,000 was imposed. In default of payment, he will have to undergo further imprisonment as per court directions.

Following the conviction, Odisha Vigilance has stated that it will initiate proceedings with the competent authority to stop the pension benefits of Sri Amresh Kumar Jaiswal in accordance with applicable rules.
