Jammu, 11 August (H.S.): Shri Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Jammu province will organize a grand Shobha Yatra on the auspicious occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami on August 14.
The announcement was made by Sabha president Purushottam Dadheechi at a press conference, accompanied by Dharmarth Trust secretary Ashok Kumar and Sabha general secretary Sanjay Gupta.
Dadheechi informed that the Shobha Yatra will commence from the historic Raghunath Temple at 3:30 pm after special pooja and aarti. The procession will feature colourful tableaux depicting episodes from Lord Krishna’s life, including the lifting of Govardhan mountain, Raas Leela, and scenes from the Mahabharata. Devotees carrying 1008 sacred kalash, kirtan mandalis, musical bands, and bhajan groups will add to the devotional fervour.
The Yatra will pass through Shalamar, Rajinder Bazaar, Kanak Mandi, Purani Mandi, Link Road, Jain Bazaar, Pacca Danga, Moti Bazaar, Gita Mandir and Upper Gummat before returning to Raghunath Temple. Markets and lanes along the route will be decorated with flowers and lights. Social and religious organizations will welcome the procession at various points by showering flowers, distributing prasad and offering refreshments.
Special lighting arrangements, sound systems, and seating for devotees will be made at prominent locations. The Sabha has requested cooperation from the Traffic Department, Health Department, and other agencies to ensure smooth conduct of the yatra.
Appealing to the public to participate in large numbers, Dadheechi said the festival is an opportunity to celebrate devotion, unity, and cultural heritage. In addition to the main procession, Shri Sanatan Dharam Sabha will also hold Janmashtami celebrations and pooja programmes at temples and other locations across Jammu.
