Udhampur, 11 August (H.S.): Deadly Chinese string (Gattu Dor), which caused death of 25-year old Rajinder Kumar by slitting his throat at Rehamabal yesterday, not only claimed life of a youth but also snatched sole bread earner of a family, only son of an elderly widow and brother of a young girl, who had tied him Rakhi shortly before the tragedy struck.

Rajinder Kumar, son of Subash Chander, resident of Seen Brahmna area, had died yesterday after his throat was slit due by Chinese kite string while he was riding a motorcycle near Shiv Mandir Ghat, Udhampur.

A large number of people attended his last rites , here today. Wails of sobbing family members and relatives, particularly mother and sister of the deceased echoed in the air as funeral procession was taken out for cremation of the mortal remains.

Locals said that Rajinder Kumar was the sole bread winner of his family and Government should provide some job to next of his kin. “There is no one to take care of the elderly mother and young sister of the deceased as he was the only bread earner and we appeal the Government to provide some job to any of the two surviving members of the family so that they can meet both ends,” they said.
