Jhansi, 11 Aug
(HS): A youth, enraged by her 18-year-old sister's liaison with a man,
reportedly killed her after celebrating Raksha Bandhan in the Garautha region
here, police informed on Monday. Kumari Sahodar alias Putti's body, with a
shaven head, was discovered on Sunday near Dada Maharaj platform in a remote
part of Chandrapura village, police said. Putti's brother, Arvind, and a
friend, Prakash Prajapati, both approximately 25, have been apprehended in
connection with the murder. The murder followed another, that of Putti's
boyfriend. On August 7, the body of Vishal, a 19-year-old Lahchura resident,
was discovered in Gudha Village. According to investigators, Putti and Vishal
fled their house four months ago but were convinced to return. A mutual
settlement was reached between two families, and things calmed down for a
while. However, both loves soon began meeting. This reigniting of the issue did
not sit well with Arvind, who had recently returned to the area from Pune. According
to authorities, upon his return, he hired Prakash Prajapati to murder both of
them. On August 7, the two kidnapped Vishal under the guise of providing him a
job and murdered him, according to authorities. The police charged both with murder after
receiving a complaint from Vishal's father, Halkeram. While the inquiry was
still ongoing in that case, Arvind abducted Putti on Saturday under the guise
of collecting her medicine and murdered her, according to authorities on Monday.
Her body was recovered on Sunday.
A major revelation
was made during the police investigation into the case of the murder of a
couple at different places in two police station areas of Jhansi in UP. The
police investigation has revealed that the girl's brother, along with his
friends, first took his sister's lover away on the pretext of a job and killed
him. Then, on Saturday, after getting his sister to tie a Rakhi, he took her away
on the pretext of getting her medicine and killed his sister too on
Rakshabandhan. Three days ago, the body of a youth was found on the bank of a
river in Lahchura police station area. While on Sunday, the body of his
girlfriend was found on a hill in Garautha police station area. This was
revealed after the police swung into action and took the accused into custody.
It is noteworthy
that on Sunday, the body of an 18-year-old girl named Putt was found lying in a
suspicious condition on a hill in Chandrapura village of Garautha police
station area of the district. The villagers saw the body and informed the
police. The police and forensic team reached the spot and started
investigation. Initial investigation revealed that the girl was murdered by shaving
her head. Earlier, two days ago, the body of a youth named Vishal was found
soaked in blood on the river bank in village Gudha of Lahchura police station
area. The deceased was a resident of village Pathrai of Tahrauli police station
area. The police took the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem.
Villagers say that
the deceased youth and the girl were in a love relationship, which was already
known to their families. Both had run away from home earlier and were recovered
by Garautha police at that time. The father of the deceased youth alleges that
the police had also taken Rs. 45,000 in February to hush up the matter. Local
people believe that both were murdered due to mutual enmity and displeasure of
the family members.
In this case, the
father of the youth had complained against Chandrapura resident Arvind alias
Gulle and Prakash Prajapati for taking his son Vishal to Delhi on the pretext
of getting him a job and killing him. On this, the Lahchura police station had
registered a case against both of them. Today, the father of the deceased also
filed a complaint and accused his son Arvind, Prakash Prajapati and his
companions of killing his daughter. When the police registered a case and
interrogated Arvind's companions, the whole matter of honor killing came to
light. Not only this, the allegation made by the father of the young man and
the girl also proved to be true. However, the main murder accused Arvind alias
Gulle was also taken into custody late at night. Investigation is underway in
the case. In this case, Superintendent of Police (Rural), Dr. Arvind Kumar said
that both the bodies have been sent for post-mortem. He said that the field
unit has collected evidence from the crime scene. Police teams have been
formed. The whole matter will soon become clear after the accused are taken
into custody and questioned. At present, the case appears to be of honour
killing.
