New Delhi, August 10 (H.S.): “Independence Day is not merely a celebration – it is a solemn remembrance of the countless sacrifices and indomitable courage that earned us the honour of a free India,” remarked Delhi Assembly Speaker and Rohini MLA Vijender Gupta, while leading a grand Tiranga Yatra organised to mark the 79th Independence Day. The historic procession, hosted by the Rohini F Mandal, witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents, RWAs, youth groups, market associations, and community representatives.
The yatra commenced from Naharpur Market, Sector-7, winding its way through the locality before concluding at Azad Kabadi Chowk, Rajapur Village. Hundreds of participants, holding the national tricolour aloft, marched with spirited chants of unity and patriotism.
Addressing the gathering, Gupta asserted that the tricolour embodies the pride of the nation, standing as a vivid symbol of sovereignty, unity, and the constitutional values enshrined in the Republic. “This flag is not merely a banner—it is the living emblem of the supreme sacrifices made by innumerable freedom fighters. This Tiranga Yatra is our tribute to their struggle and a reaffirmation of our resolve to build a strong and united India,” he said.
Paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Vitthalbhai Patel, and countless unsung heroes who endured imprisonment, hardship, and laid down their lives for the nation’s freedom, Gupta urged citizens to preserve and strengthen the ideals of unity, integrity, and democracy.
He also commended the extraordinary courage and sacrifice displayed by Indian soldiers during the recently concluded Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev, stating, “The soul of India resides in every soldier of our armed forces. Their valour in these recent missions reminds us that the independence we enjoy today is safeguarded each day by the relentless bravery and self-sacrifice of our jawans.”
