New Delhi, August 10(HS): Electric mobility giant Tesla is set to shift its India expansion into high gear tomorrow, unveiling its second showroom at Aerocity’s Worldmark 3 in the national capital—less than a month after its Mumbai debut. The move marks a decisive step in Elon Musk‑led Tesla’s push into India’s premium EV market.
Rolling out sales with its global bestseller, the Model Y SUV, Tesla will offer two rear‑wheel drive variants in Delhi: the Standard RWD at ₹61.06 lakh on‑road, boasting a claimed 500‑km range and 201 km/h top speed, and the Long‑Range RWD at ₹69.14 lakh, offering an extended range of 622 km. Prices vary across cities, with Gurgaon’s rates higher by nearly ₹5 lakh, while Mumbai’s long‑range model matches Delhi’s pricing.
Initially restricted to registrations in Mumbai, Gurgaon and Delhi, Tesla’s booking platform is now open nationwide, though deliveries will be fast‑tracked for Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and Gurgaon.
In a parallel infrastructure push, Delhi‑NCR joins Mumbai as one of only two metro regions in Tesla’s first Indian charging network. Four sites—Saket and Aerocity in Delhi, Golf Course Road in Gurgaon, and Noida—will host a combined 16 Superchargers and 15 destination chargers, as confirmed by Isabel Fan, Tesla’s Senior Regional Director for Asia.
Teasing the launch on social media, Tesla showcased the Model Y against Delhi landmarks like Qutub Minar and vibrant Lodhi Art District murals, sparking excitement among EV enthusiasts.
