10 Aug (HS): A 56-year-old lady was detained here on allegations of killing her

son after he reportedly raped her, officials said on Sunday. On the night of

August 7, Ashok (32) was reportedly hacked to death in his sleep with a

sharp-edged weapon in Mandawali's Shyamiwala hamlet, according to Additional

Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sanjeev Vajpayee. Munni, his mother, was held by

police for questioning due to suspicion.

During interrogation, she reportedly admitted to murdering her son, the

officer said. Munni alleged that Ashok, an unmarried drunkard, had previously

raped her while drunken. However, owing

to societal shame, she chose not to tell anybody about the occurrence.

When

he attempted to repeat the deed, she beat him with a sickle and subsequently

called the alarm, alleging that thieves had entered the house. The accused's

blood-stained garments and the sickle used to conduct the deed were found,

according to the ASP.
