Guwahati (Assam), 10 August (HS): Several states in Northeast India have been experiencing a series of mild earthquakes over the past few days. The latest tremor, measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale, was felt in Churachandpur district of Manipur at 2:16 PM.

According to the National Center for Seismology, the quake’s epicenter was located 12 km underground at 24.35°N latitude and 93.54°E longitude. This marks the sixth such earthquake in August across Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Manipur, with no casualties or significant damage reported.

On Friday night, a 2.9-magnitude quake struck Assam’s Sonitpur district at 8:40 PM, followed earlier that morning by a 3.5-magnitude tremor in Arunachal Pradesh’s Dibang Valley at 4:52 AM.

Earlier in the month, a 3.8-magnitude quake hit Nagon district on August 7, a 3.0-magnitude tremor was felt in Kurung Kumey district on August 5, and a 3.2-magnitude quake occurred in Arunachal Pradesh on August 2.

Seismologists confirmed that all the earthquakes were mild and posed no immediate threat.
