Umariya,(Madhya Pradesh) August 10(HS): Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday paid tribute to the unwavering courage and capability of India’s Armed Forces, declaring that “Operation Sindoor is living proof that India can defeat its adversaries with home-grown strength.” Speaking at the foundation-laying ceremony of the BEML Rail Hub for Manufacturing (BRAHMA)at Umariya, Madhya Pradesh, he described the operation as a measured yet powerful response to a recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, and emphasised: “We do not provoke anyone, but those who provoke us will not be spared.”

Rajnath Singh lauded Operation Sindoor as a symbol of India’s self-reliance and self-confidence, noting that indigenous military technology played a decisive role in its success. He credited the transformation in the defence sector to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, under whom India has achieved record defence production of ₹1.51 lakh crore and unprecedented defence exports worth ₹23,622 crore in FY 2024–25.

The BRAHMA facility — to be developed over 148 acres with an investment of ₹1,800 crore — is envisioned as a world-class, eco-conscious manufacturing hub for advanced rolling stock, including Vande Bharat trainsets, metro coaches, and high-speed rail units. Initially set to produce up to 200 coaches annually, the plant’s capacity will scale to 1,100 units within five years. The project is expected to generate over 5,000 jobs, invigorate regional supply chains, and strengthen the MSME ecosystem across Singrauli, Satna, Rewa, and Katni.

In alignment with India’s green manufacturing vision, the facility will incorporate zero liquid discharge systems, renewable energy integration, rainwater harvesting, and sustainable construction practices. Shri Singh hailed projects like BRAHMA as “critical to building the industrial and technological muscle that underpins both India’s security and its economic growth.”

The Defence Minister underscored that such initiatives reflect the double-engine government’s commitment to accelerate economic progress, with India already growing at 6.5% and poised to become the world’s third-largest economy. He reaffirmed the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and called for heightened investment in defence research and development as the cornerstone for future progress.

The event was attended by Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw (virtually), Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, senior defence officials, and BEML leadership.

In closing, Rajnath Singh commended BEML’s historic contribution to both defence and civilian sectors, stating: “BEML remains a pillar of India’s journey to self-reliance. With BRAHMA, we lay the foundation for a stronger, safer, and more prosperous nation — a step towards an India that is self-reliant, globally respected, and future-ready.”
