Kolkata, 10 August (H.S.): The RG Kar victim's mother was discharged from the hospital on Sunday. She left for home in an ambulance at around 3 pm on Sunday. She was accompanied by the victim's father and other family members. According to hospital sources, her condition is stable at the moment. The swelling in the injured part of the forehead has reduced. She has been given an antibiotic injection. According to hospital sources, the victim's mother was later asked to consult a neurologist.
The hospital issued a statement saying that the victim's mother slept well at night. She has no problem in holding her head. In the morning, she started walking under the supervision of doctors in the emergency department. A team of neurologists met the victim's mother on Sunday morning. However, the victim's father expressed anger over the fact that the hospital report did not mention 'police beating'.
A year after the RG Kar case, on Saturday, the deceased doctor's parents took to the streets demanding justice for their daughter's rape and murder. It is alleged that the police also beat up the victim's mother during the Nabanna campaign. The woman said that she had injuries on her forehead and back. BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari claimed that the police beat up the woman. They also pushed the victim's father. The deceased doctor's mother was taken to a hospital near the bypass on Saturday afternoon.
On Sunday morning, the victim's father complained that the hospital authorities did not want to admit the patient due to 'pressure' from the state government. However, nothing has been said by the hospital authorities in this regard so far.
There has been a lot of uproar over the allegations of beating up the victim's mother by the police. On Sunday morning, Kolkata Police Commissioner Manoj Verma went to SSKM to see the injured policemen in the Navanna campaign. After leaving from there, he said that the allegation of the victim's mother being injured would be investigated. If the woman was beaten up, then who did it, it would be investigated. In his words, She was beaten up, whether this allegation is true or false, we will investigate.
