New Delhi, August 10(HS): In a landmark step to modernize the living quarters for Members of Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate 184 cutting-edge Type-VII multi-storey apartments at Baba Kharak Singh Marg on Monday morning. Symbolically planting a Sindoor sapling to mark the occasion, the Prime Minister will also interact with the workforce that brought the project to fruition, before addressing distinguished guests and residents.

Amidst growing demand for space-efficient and sustainable housing, this new complex stands out for its commitment to both innovation and inclusivity. Spanning approximately 5,000 square feet per flat, each residence seamlessly integrates expansive living areas with dedicated offices and staff accommodations—empowering MPs to balance their public and private responsibilities with ease. The development also hosts a modern community center, fostering fellowship and collaboration among residents.

Sustainability anchors the project’s design philosophy. Adhering to the GRIHA 3-star rating and the rigorous National Building Code 2016, the complex leverages cutting-edge green technology to deliver energy efficiency, renewable power generation, and superior waste management. Advanced construction methods—namely monolithic concrete with aluminum formwork—not only expedited completion, but also ensure robust structural integrity and earthquake resistance.

In keeping with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of an inclusive India, the facility is fully Divyang-friendly, reflecting universal accessibility in every aspect. Security has also been fortified, with a comprehensive surveillance system safeguarding all occupants.

This transformative project responds to a chronic shortfall in adequate, centrally located housing for parliamentarians, maximizing precious urban real estate through vertical development and minimizing long-term maintenance overhead. In the words of a senior official, “This is not just an address, but a new benchmark in capital city living.”

With the first keys now in the hands of MPs, the Baba Kharak Singh Marg complex signals a fresh era of infrastructure—where sustainability, functionality, and dignity converge to serve India’s public representatives and, by extension, the nation itself.
