Chennai, 10 August (H.S.): O Panneerselvam, the expelled AIADMK leader, has strongly condemned VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan for his recent comments on the late AIADMK founder MG Ramachandran and his successor J Jayalalithaa. Panneerselvam described Thirumavalavan's remarks as unjustifiable and demanded that he retract his statement.
According to Panneerselvam, Thirumavalavan's criticism of the two towering leaders is not only an uncivilized act but also reflects poorly on his own character. He emphasized that MGR and Jayalalithaa earned the respect and unconditional love of people from all sections of society of India. Panneerselvam also highlighted MGR's immense popularity, which helped the DMK form the government, and his individual appeal that led to his election as CM for three consecutive terms.
Panneerselvam further pointed out that MGR increased reservation from 30% to 50%, while Jayalalithaa ensured constitutional protection for the state's 69% reservation policy by including it in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution. He urged Thirumavalavan to withdraw his remarks against the two leaders and think about whether it is justifiable to criticize a leader based on their caste.
