Newborn Baby Found Abandoned in Sonari’s Manjushree Tea Estate


Charaideo (Assam), 10 August (HS): A newborn baby girl was found abandoned near a river at the 29th Jeng Line in Lahadegarh, located in the inter-state border area of Assam and Nagaland, creating a stir in the region.

According to police sources, local residents spotted the infant and alerted the Manjushree Tea Estate hospital. Health workers, along with a community health worker, rushed to the spot and took the newborn into their custody. The police and Child Helpline were also informed.

The baby, found in critical condition shortly after birth, was taken to a local hospital and later referred to Assam Medical College and Hospital in Dibrugarh, where she is undergoing treatment.

An FIR has been registered, and police are investigating the case.
