Bhopal, August 10 (HS): Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Madhya Pradesh today to lay the foundation stone for a new state-of-the-art rail coach factory in Obaidullaganj, Raisen district, with an investment of ₹1,800 crore. The plant, under Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML), named ‘Brahma’, will be spread across over 60 hectares and produce coaches for Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat, and metro trains.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that the project will bring employment opportunities for over 5,000 people from the districts of Bhopal, Raisen, Sehore, and Vidisha, with special benefits for local students from technical institutes. The factory is designed fully according to ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives, using domestically developed technologies and materials to reduce foreign dependence.

The factory will maintain high environmental standards, including zero liquid waste systems, solar and renewable energy usage, rainwater harvesting, and green landscaping. The initial production capacity will be 125–200 coaches per year, which will increase to 1,100 coaches annually over five years.

Several dignitaries will attend the ceremony, including Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Defense Production Secretary Sanjeev Kumar, Railway Board Chairman Satish Kumar, and BEML Project Chairman Shantanu Ray.
