Chennai, 10 August (H.S.): A Coimbatore court has sentenced a police head constable from the Nilgiris district to six months in jail for abusing a dog trainer with casteist slurs. The incident, which drew widespread condemnation, led to the filing of a case against the police personnel under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

According to reports, the incident occurred when the dog trainer was working with the police department. The head constable allegedly used derogatory caste-based language against the trainer, prompting the victim to file a complaint.
