(HS): Due to the large amount of water released from Kota Barrage, the water

level of Yamuna and Chambal rivers has reached about 5 meters above the danger

mark. The rising of rivers has created a severe flood-like situation in

Auraiya, Jalaun and Etawah districts. According to administrative officials,

the water level is rising at the rate of 9 to 10 centimeters every hour, which has

affected the lives of thousands of villagers. The situation is also becoming

serious in the Panchnad area, the confluence of five rivers.

Panic in the

affected villages, people left their homes and reached safe places. Due to the

rising water level of Yamuna and Chambal rivers, dozens of villages including

Mai, Asta, Sikrodi, Gaunhani Kalan, Goonj, Tatarpur Kalan, Aseva, Katholi,

Fariha, Bareh, Juhikha, Asevata of Ajitmal tehsil have been completely

submerged. The most serious situation is being reported in Sikrodi, Gaunhani

Kalan, Goonj, Tatarpur Kalan, Juhikha and Fariha villages, where even primary

schools have been submerged. Thousands of acres of crops have been submerged,

due to which farmers are facing heavy losses.

Contact lost,

administration deployed boats and NDRF team: Due to flood, many villages have

lost contact with each other. Administration has arranged three boats in

Gaunhani Kalan so that people can be taken to safe places. NDRF team is also

engaged in relief work. Sub-district magistrate Nikhil Rajput said that all

departments have been kept on alert mode.

Monitoring from flood posts and relief

and rescue work is going on war footing. Establishment of relief camps,

administration's appeal: Relief camps have been set up for the affected people

in Hanuman Garhi Vidyalaya in Jajpur and village Juhikha. Mattresses, sheets,

drinking water, food light and medical facilities have been provided in the

camps.

Chambal water has

reached the stairs of Bhareshwar temple in Bareh village, which has made the

situation more serious. The administration has appealed to the people not to

enter the flood affected areas without any need, avoid rumors and contact the

administration in case of any emergency. The entire area is being monitored and

the situation is being continuously reviewed.
